My friend, Amy, has started her second blog devoted to cooking.

I read about this guy in the news yesterday. He's going to all 50 states to try out all sorts of jobs, to prove that there are still jobs out there, and interesting ones at that. He was in Indianapolis this week.
It's time for me to close up for now. We hope to finish our master bathroom today. (By the way, it always seems weird calling it the master bathroom, because it's maybe 6" larger than the guest bathroom, which isn't that big anyway.) The new vanity, faucet, and lights are installed, so we just have to put up the mirror and the other fixtures, and then I can paint. I'm very excited to finish up this room, probably my least favorite in the entire house right now.

Bridget Goes to the Vet
I mentioned in yesterday's post that Bridget went to the vet for the first time (at least since we've had her). I failed to mention the best parts, however.
First, they told CJ that we'd need to start brushing her teeth, and that in 3-4 months, we should bring her back in for an actual teeth cleaning.
But it gets better.
When they first arrived, apparently CJ had to sign a HIPPA form -- you know, the medical information forms that state that the doctors/vets won't share information with others.
It's a CAT!

snippets
Life has been busy lately, so here are some snippets of information for you.
Home improvements have officially started. First up: a kitchen light. Pray the other improvements are easier and include all required parts.
Vegetable garden is underway too. We're growing a few flowers, onions, and peppers from our spare bedroom.
Bridget had her first vet appointment yesterday. We wonder if it's really necessary. She also got her claws trimmed. I like her a whole lot better now.
I'm officially addicted to the Twilight saga. It's ridiculous, I know, but I can't get enough. I almost like the books as much as Harry Potter.
Spent part of last weekend in Knox County with CJ's parents.
Home improvements this coming weekend. Small group is at our house on Sunday night, so we have to get the house cleaned up by then too.
Work is getting better each day for me. CJ's keeping busy with his full and part-time jobs.
Time to go. New Moon (the second in the Twilight series) is calling my name.

riding the momentum
While we're making all sorts of other changes -- with our jobs, to our house, whatnot -- we decided to go back to school and we finally took some big steps toward that this weekend.
CJ filled out information to go back to Indiana State to finish up his bachelor's degree, and he's working on getting more information about Ivy Tech's Medic to RN crossover program.
And I've applied for Indiana Wesleyan's MBA program. It's a one-day per week program, which is pretty appealing to me, considering CJ's crazy work schedule and the fact that he'll also be back at school too.
Better close down for tonight. The cat's clawing at the door wanting some attention.

new jobs all around
Just to keep everyone in the loop, if you haven't heard yet, CJ and I both have new jobs.
CJ's still at the Plainfield F.D., but he just started his part-time job at Rural Metro, a private ambulance company, last week. It'll give him something to do during his days off, and the extra money can help pay off those annoying, never-ending student loans ... or now, to pay off the cost of a plumber...
I also have a new job, starting next Monday. I have accepted a position at the state's Office of Energy Development, where I will be a grants specialist. Basically I'll help organize and keep track of the grants the agency distributes -- which, since energy received a large chunk in the stimulus package, will be a big challenge. I'll meet with companies, help them understand grant requirements, monitor their progress, etc. CJ and I have been praying about my job for quite some time now, and as he pointed out, this answer didn't come packaged quite as I had imagined, but it was a clear answer. And besides, I feel like I've been long overdue for a challenge, and I'm excited to have this opportunity.

ugly tree is (almost) gone!
You have no idea how happy it makes me that the ugly tree in our front yard is almost gone.
For those of you who haven't visited the house, we have/had two pseudo-ornamental trees in our front yard. The one CJ cut down was growing cooked, and was too far along to straighten. The other was planted right by the driveway so that CJ can't even get out of his truck. We also found out that it was planted right on top of electrical wires, so he only trimmed that one back.
Don't worry, all you tree-huggers out there, we're going to replace it with a new tree. I'm browsing the Arbor Day Foundation website right now where we might be able to get a cheaper tree than at say, Lowe's (although I'm sure the foundation also makes sizable donations to any of my favorite Democrats). Besides, we got a whole ten tiny logs out of that tree that we can use for our fire pit. It's like money back into our pockets.
