Visual aids never hurt, right?
I think many people assume I'm not a good cook. I imagine most, if not all, of these people came to this conclusion simply because I readily admit I don't like to cook. Big distinction there. While I may have kitchen disasters like anyone else (chocolate chili, anyone?), I'm actually not that bad of a cook -- promise.
Eggs, though, are a different story. Omelettes turn out okay. They're usually done, they just don't end up looking appetizing. I can scramble eggs, but that's really not my preferred type of egg. I can boil eggs, but I usually end up overcooking them. I think I attempted to fry an egg once, and it was a disaster and I never wanted to try it again.
CJ has recently introduced me to frogs in the hole (I think most other people call them eggs in a basket). It's almost like his specialty, and because I've taken such a liking to them, we're having them on average once a week. They're quick and easy to make -- just some bread, butter, and eggs -- so I've been attempting to make them for dinner when CJ has been at work.
And, it's been a disaster. The first time, I burnt them. The second time I overcooked the eggs. (I threw those in the trash, which Henry promptly dug out and ate. He didn't seem to mind.) But, the third time was a charm! I was so excited I had to take a picture (helps the blog be a little more interesting, no?), and I also had to call CJ at work to tell him.
Maybe this will give me more confidence to try other types of eggs?

those are not frogs in a hole or eggs in a basket...the correct term for that delicacy is a "hobo"...so sayeth my mom, and she's always right;).
