vacation

Coordinating this year's vacation hasn't been easy.  (I know, it's tough anyway, figuring out where to vacation.)

First, we had to figure out when.  Taking off work isn't a problem for me, but I only have a few weeks during the year when I'm not in class.  Second, the fire department will only allow three people to be off each day, so that limits when we could take off and for how long.  And last, CJ will (hopefully) start the nursing program in August, so that further limits the time we have available.

Now that we've figured out when we're going, we just have to figure out where we're going.  And that's where we're stumped.  And that's where all six of my faithful readers come in.

Criteria:  We want to get out of state.  It'll probably be a week-long vacation.  We're open to flying or driving, depending on the distance and of course, whichever is most cost effective.  Tennessee is not a vacation option.  Although we realize we'll have to spend some money on a vacation no matter where we go, we can't spend a small fortune either (so anything overseas is out).  And, we'd like to have a decision made very soon, as we hope to get a better bang for our buck by making early reservations.

What's on the table right now:  Disney (my parents' pick), Florida in general (my pick), or Michigan.

Any suggestions?  What's the best vacation you've been on?  Where have you always wanted to go?

Michigan is a great choice but stay as south as possible. We went too far north last year and even in August it was too cold to swim most days. I vote Hilton Head or Charleston. I love the Carolinas and you can drive or fly. I stayed in an old hotel in downtown Charleston before and it was so much fun. Good food, ghost tours, and a near by beach.

My mom and I had a nice vacation in Gulf Shores, Alabama, which I recommend. Although if you're going to go that far, you might as well go to Florida? I don't know.

I have tons of recommendations: Outer Banks in North Carolina, Key West, Upstate New York, Maine, agreeing with Noelle on Michigan and Charleston, Washington DC. I feel like my list could go on forever. Email me if you want more info. I've been to all of these places in the last few years.
