My friend, Amanda, and I went to see Julie & Julia tonight, the movie based on two true stories -- of Julia Child, and of Julie Powell, who spent a year cooking out of Mastering the Art of French Cooking.
(By the way, Mom, don't be surprised if this book shows up on my birthday/Christmas wishlist.)
I thought it was going to be a bit hairy at first, because Amanda didn't think she could past Meryl Streep's Julia Child voice (which wasn't too off). And despite the woman behind me who felt like she needed to make comments in an outdoor voice ("[Julie] needs to vacuum!") it was a cute movie and actually a little funny in parts. Although I'm not going to rush out and buy the book, I left definitely more inspired to try out French cooking.
Also, can I just say how much I really like Meryl Streep?
