It wasn't planned. CJ desperately wants a dog -- a big, smart one named Samson. But, as he says, he just likes having pets around.
If you haven't heard the story yet, we got back from the honeymoon and were doing a bit of shopping. We went into the pet store because we decided our aquarium was still quite sad, feeling the remnants of last month's fish killing spree. We stopped by the adoptable cats room, as we always do in the pet store. (We're not going to do this anymore, by the way.) Normally the cats don't pay a lick of attention to the people who come in, but this particular cat came up to the cage door, let CJ pet her, and then held out her paw to him ... and that's where we lost him. After talking it over, we pretty much nixed the idea, but then kept bringing it up at various points during the night. I called about her the next day and found out she came from the Terre Haute Humane Society (was it a sign??) and that'd she'd been up in Indianapolis in a cage since July. And so, we picked her up within the hour.
Her name is Bridget and she's really a sweet cat. She likes to climb, but she doesn't claw my furniture ... yet. I'm hoping that's a sign she won't start anytime in the near future. She doesn't seem to care about the little play balls I got her, but goes crazy over my gloves -- each morning, a new pair of my gloves are on the living room floor. And, I'm pretty sure she much prefers CJ over me.
