When we first found Stella waiting to be adopted, the woman who fostered her told us how she liked her cat scratching post with a perch on it. Bridget only claws at one table, so I'd considered getting her one, but with a new addition, I thought we probably should get one. At $30 a pop, I told CJ that surely we could make one of these on the cheap.
It was cheap, but definitely not worth the hassle.
In about a half hour, CJ threw together this:

The cost? Free, with scrap lumber. We purchased twine at the store (don't remember how much we paid for it, but I think it was around $5). And we bought gorilla glue for like $11, but didn't even use half.
The idea was that after CJ made the post, I'd wrap it with the twine. No big deal.
Yeah, right.
After I had gorilla glue all over my hands and after the twine on the top wasn't sticking, I decided I'd had enough. I figured it was a better job for CJ anyway (everything is, really), so he ended up using a mixture of gorilla glue and his air compressor gun.
One emergency trip to Menards for special soap (to clean off the glue) and twine, CJ finished up with this:

Of course Bridget didn't want to have anything to do with it, so when Stella came to stay with us, it became hers. Thank goodness it's getting some use ... otherwise CJ may never do another project for me again!
