book sale success!

Last year, we found out the Indianapolis-Marion County Public Library holds booksales four or five times a year.  We've been back once or twice since then.  I always have luck, which figures.  CJ, who has trouble finding books at the sale sometimes, can finish a book a day sometimes, whereas it takes me awhile to get through a book (not because I'm a slow reader by any means, but I can always think of ten other household chores that need done first).

CJ is reading over my shoulder right now as I type this and says, "And then not do them," (referring to not doing the chores).  Real nice, husband.

Anyway, we went yesterday and I ended up coming home with quite the stash and CJ only found one book.  We got all this for $16:

Some books have the plastic library covers on them, but some don't.  You can find a lot of obscure books, but I always take a list of the books I've wanted to read for ages, and I manage to mark off a few from my list, including South of Broad, The Wish Maker, My Sister's Keeper, The Color Purple, and Life of Pi.  And we got it all for about the same price as we'd pay for just one brand new.

If you're interested in the book sale, you can find IMCPL's sale dates here.  We do recommend that you take your own bag, and we also recommend that you maybe stagger the times you go (as in, if it's offered in August, maybe don't go the next time) so they can replenish some of the books.  You can even go next weekend and load up on 1/2 price day or $5 bag day!

Happy reading!
