Nothing terribly exciting going on here, but I figure I should probably keep up this new hobby.
Wedding planning is coming along, I suppose. The dress has been picked out, plans are in the works for two showers, and the invitation list is coming along quite nicely (except for the fact that it's almost three times larger than I originally wanted). I really want M&Ms to match our wedding colors, but I priced them online...and that won't be happening. It's $6 for a seven ounce bag, and $50 for a five pound bag. My parents definitely didn't go for that idea and quite frankly, I can come up with better things to do with $100 too. So, if anyone knows where I can get colored M&Ms for less, let me know.
Everyone always asks me if the house is finished yet. It's not like my house is a fixer-upper, but I don't think that any house, no matter how cheap or expensive, is ever complete. There's always something that needs fixed or improved. I'm going to paint the master bedroom late next month, which will be a chore (but probably not as bad as the kitchen). Outside, CJ sprayed my weeds and now my entire front yard is dead. Before we till up the entire yard, we're going to create a little test plot to see if any grass seed will actually grow. So I guess that'll be this weekend's project.
I volunteered tonight at Dress for Success. If you haven't heard of it yet, disadvantaged women are referred to Dress for Success prior to going on a job interview. We help them find appropriate interview wear, and then once they've landed the job, they can come back for a second outfit. I'm so glad I finally decided to volunteer for the organization; I have a blast being a personal shopper. I've found personal shopping can still be a struggle for me though. For instance, if CJ wears something I don't like, I don't hesitate to tell him -- and probably not in the most compassionate tone, either. So basically I have to convince myself that I'm not Stacy and Clinton and this isn't shopping in New York City, but it's a huge start for these women. And I also think I get too jaded at work, seeing too many people who try to or do take advantage of the system, and then I forget there are so many people out there who struggle to land that first interview or work their way up the system, but have had it rough in some way, whether by their own choosing or by uncontrollable circumstances. It's been eye opening and thought provoking, and I'm just so glad I can help out. And...they're always looking for donations of good business clothes, and especially shoes in sizes nine and above. So, if you have anything you want to donate -- especially shoes -- let me know and I can take it in.
Speaking of Dress for Success, CJ left me a voice mail while I was volunteering. He told me that since I'd been so good and volunteered, that he was going to give me a gift...a free, ten-week old black lab. I didn't veto it, surprisingly enough. I'm just not sure if it'll be fun or just crazy, or perhaps both.

Not sure but I think i saw different colors of m&ms at the greenwood mall in one of the candy stores. they might be cheaper than ordering. could be making it up, but worth a trip to look.
I can't believe that you volunteered without me! Good for you for volunteering, but you were supposed to let me know if you ever decided to actually do it. Stinker. :) I am very proud of you for giving back though. I need to find something to volunteer with too. I'm not sure I'd be much good at the whole personal shopping thing though. I'll have to think of another worthy cause.
And keep me posted on the puppy thing. I kind of can't believe that you have a puppy. I bet he's adorable but I'm really anxious to see how that goes. :)
